Switzerland's new China Strategy
Swiss Government released their new China Strategy, which effectively continues course with a focus on securing a) peace and security, b) prosperity, c) sustainability and d) digitalisation. In an interview to the NZZ, Iganzio Cassis explained main purpose of the China Strategy to strengthen trade but also continue highlight the need for improvements on human rights. Swiss Position is to keep neutral and independent. Chinese foreign minister Yang Li responds underpinning friendship with Switzerland. Following the free trade agreement, China is now the third largest export partner increasing from 1.9 in 2001 to 20.4bn CHF in 2019.
