Kevin Kelly reallynailed it when summarizing 6 traits of successful people. This probablyresonated as one of the most, when reflecting on my own principles. Here arehis traits:
- Speed over Perfection with a sense of urgency:
- Be a problem solver and you’llalways be successful
- Being a Problem Solver and Relentlessly Resourceful: Focus on your customers, prevention is better than cure
- Insane Focus on Your Customers and Continuous Improvement: Treat customers like your old best friend and solve their problems andcontinuously improve. Be aware of compounding effect: 1% daily improvementresults in 37x better after a year
- Making Decisive Data-Driven Solutions and Using Common Sense: Be aware of youremotions, take decisions trusting data, be logical and then use your gutfeelings
- Having an Owner Mentality and Working Backward from Your End Goal: Create yourgoals, make them measurable, in specific detail, set timelines, work hard toget there
- Simplifying Complexity and 80/20 EVERYTHIGN in Your Life: Pareto Principle,20% of effort to get 80% of outcome. Focus on 20% things matter most, and makeyou most happy
Gratitude: Happiness is directly related to gratitude
Progress: Tony Robbins said progress is happiness
Perspective: People typically are bad at knowing what makes them happy, but know well whatmakes them unhappy (The ‘Inverse Law’).Eg. Give a billionaire and a homeless person a cheap hotel room. Same situation, their happiness level might vary hugely.
“Happiness is a state of mind. It’s just according to the way you look at things.”
